Adolescent Inpatient Unit
Inpatient services are offered on a short-term basis to adolescents who are
experiencing acute psychiatric and/or dual diagnosis disorders and in need of crisis
stabilization. Treatment includes both individual and group psychotherapy. Family
meetings are conducted for psycho-education and discharge planning. Activity groups
focus on evaluating their own feelings and developing new strategies to cope with
strong emotions.
Dual Diagnosis Program
The Dual Diagnosis Program on the Adolescent Unit is designed for young people who
have an addiction disorder as well as psychiatric problem. Often when adolescents use
drugs they exacerbate emotional, psychological and psychiatric problems, which require
treatment in a dual diagnosis track.
The Adolescent Dual Diagnosis Program uses a modified 12-Step approach and presents this
information in a way more easily understood by adolescents. Each adolescent works with
a certified alcohol and drug counselor (CADC) in conjunction with a psychiatrist and
other therapists. Specialized addiction treatment groups tailored for those with
chemical abuse dependency needs meet on a daily basis.
